Aztec Social Classes
Aztec god
Just like with all civilizations, the Aztecs had social classes. At the top, the ruler of the Aztec, was the king. He ruled all of his subjects and made choices for the whole Aztec civilization. The last Aztec king, Moctezuma II, was also one of the greatest Aztec kings. Although many articles about the Aztec say that he was weak and indecisive, he was actually, at the time of his rule, one of the most powerful people in the world if not the most. During the invasion by the Spaniards in 1 reed (1519) Moctezuma II held up very well and didn't snap under the burden of war. Below the king and religious figures in the Aztecs social classes came farmers, weavers, street sweepers, doctors, teachers, cooks, merchants, stone carvers, etc. On the bottom of the Aztecs social classes came slaves. Aztec slaves came from all the civilizations the Aztec had conquered. Not only did the Aztecs slaves have to do whatever the Aztec wished, they were also who the Aztec sacrificed to the gods. Before the Spaniards came, the Aztecs were the en-slavers, now the Aztec were en-slaved.
